Austin is one of the first Rothwell MMA youth members.  He joined us in 2011 and is a very serious martial artist who is dedicated to his sport.  We have watched Austin grow from an energetic little boy to a responsible, more mature, young adult.  His attitude and school grades have also improved over the last 5 years.

Austin has been a great leader and teacher for the younger members as well.  He takes his time explaining the details of a move, demonstrates proper technique, and encourages others to do their best.  We are glad to have Austin as a part of our Rothwell MMA family and can’t wait to see him in the octagon one day!

Austin’s tale of the tape: When I first came to Rothwell MMA, I knew nothing about Kickboxing or Jiu-Jitsu.  I was just a regular kid.  I joined Ben’s gym when I was 6 years old.  I have a lot of energy and my grandparents thought this would be a good way for me to burn that off.

I did Jiu-Jitsu for two years and when I turned 8 years old, I started Kickboxing.  After about a year, I earned my Kickboxing Orange belt.  What keeps me going during class is encouragement and just believing in myself as a kick boxer.

Ben Rothwell is the one who inspires me along with Coach James.  I really look up to them.  When I first started here, I knew nothing about martial arts and now I have a BJJ Green belt, Kickboxing Orange belt, and a dream to be in the UFC one day.  I have come a long way and I am going to keep on pushing.  Then, maybe someday I can pursue my dream of being in that ring and being champion.”
