ABOUT ME:

Over the past twelve years, Jen has traveled to many of the top Mixed Martial Arts gyms across the country and worked with many personal trainers of the professional athletes. She also studied at the RevGear University in 2014. Jen integrated the information she learned from each gym into her own style of training- a well-rounded, safe, training program with plenty of variety. 

In 2002, Jen experienced her first yoga class as a college freshman, and was instantly hooked. While studying for a degree in Education, she practiced yoga to relax after a long day of studying. In the beginning, she loved “Power” yoga that left her exhausted but soon learned that what she needed in her life was balance. Weight lifting and spin class were taking their toll and she began to look for a gentle form of yoga to help calm her nervous system. Jen gravitated towards flow yoga and eventually found yin yoga. Practicing a slower form of yoga that flowed with the breath allowed her to calm her mind and body. After practicing gentler yoga, she always felt refreshed and energized instead of exhausted and depleted.

With a desire to inspire others to find their inner peace, Jen decided to pursue yoga as an instructor. In 2011, she began the Illuminated Soul Yoga Teacher Training with Lisa Fairmouth-Weber at Heaven Meets Earth Yoga Studio, in Evanston, Ill. The foundation of the course was rooted in Ashtanga Vinyasa with an emphasis on alignment from the Anusara and Iyengar traditions. Jen also studied the Yoga Sutras; Mantra and Meditation; Energy Anatomy; Anatomy and Phyisology; Aromatherapy; and Ayurveda. Jen designs her yoga classes to encourage students to find peace, relaxed energy, and strength within themselves. Yoga is a great addition to martial artists who put their bodies under high amounts of stress. Yoga promotes greater flexibility and range of motion, functional mobility, clarity (of mind), and stress relief – among many other benefits. Her yoga classes are designed for all members, especially beginners.
