Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Learn how to control your body and defend yourself while having fun!  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a sport that develops self-defense, strength, endurance, balance, coordination, confidence, and self-control.  Luiz and Thiago teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu submission, defense, takedown, restraint, and escape techniques.  Students then put what they learned into action while grappling with other students and instructor(s).  This class is designed for anyone, male or female, of any body type, experience, conditioning, or age (14 years and over).  Are you new to BJJ? Then try Beginner BJJ first with UFC fighter Ben Rothwell!

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu keeps students excited about learning and progressing with a traditional belt system.  Students begin as a white belt and work their way towards a black belt.  After showing progress, a “stripe” is earned.  After 4 stripes, the student knows they are ready to test for their next level belt.  Belts are earned, not given.  Each belt test has a specific set of moves and techniques that must be demonstrated.  The student will know what is on the test and will practice the necessary techniques in the weeks leading up to the test.
